Originally brought on as Assistant Editor during the show’s inception, Melissa’s hard work and dedication propelled her through the ranks to Junior Editor and ultimately Post Production Supervisor over her six seasons on HBO’s Last Week Tonight with John Oliver.
In this fast-paced environment, Melissa edited archival news clips, crafting comical montages and interstitials. Her keen eye for detail and technical knowledge was instrumental as she assisted on field shoot edits, ensuring each segment was completed within extremely tight deadlines.
Beyond editing, Melissa took on the crucial role of managing the production's media assets, including the ingestion of various file formats, frame rates, and codecs. She designed the workflows for a shared project workspace within an Avid Interplay & NEXIS system and handled all long-term archival storage to LTO.
Additionally, Melissa was responsible for fostering seamless communication between the Post Production, Studio, and Field departments. Her commitment to excellence ensured the timely delivery of each episode's final cut.
During her tenure on Last Week Tonight from 2014 through 2019, the show won sixteen Primetime Emmy awards, two Peabody Awards, and four Producers Guild of America Awards.
